Welcome to The Sandwich Generation Pod!

We are so glad you’re here!

We are Robyn Frank and Eliesa Johnson, you’re charming co-hosts of The Sandwich Generation Pod. We are mothers, small business owners and yes - caregivers to our aging parents! (And now we suppose we are podcasters - hahah!)

The Sandwich Generation Pod is a podcast for people stuck in the beautiful, exhausting, chaotic middle of caring for both young kids and aging parents.

Honestly? We started this podcast because we needed it ourselves.

Let’s be real: caregiving can absolutely wreck you emotionally and physically.

There’s the guilt.
The worry.
The mental load.
The constant feeling that someone needs something from you every second of the day.

And if you’re anything like us, you’re probably wondering:
“Am I doing enough?”
“Why does this feel so hard?”
“Why am I crying in the car again?”

The truth is, caregiving is hard because it matters. You’re carrying the people you love most through vulnerable stages of life — often while trying to hold together your career, marriage, friendships, sanity, and maybe a semi-clean house.

Humor is our Survival

If we couldn’t laugh, we’d lose it completely.

So yes, there will be tears on this podcast. But there will also be humor, because sometimes the only thing left to do after a truly absurd caregiving moment is text your friend:
“You are NOT going to believe what just happened.”

We firmly believe laughter is a coping mechanism and frankly, a necessary one.

We “Sandwiched” Caregivers need Community

Isolation makes everything heavier. One of the reasons we created The Sandwich Generation Pod is because we want people to feel less alone in this season of life. We want this to become a community where we can swap stories, resources, survival tips, and maybe even a little hope. So, leave a comment and tell us your story!

If you’ve ever Googled “how to care for aging parents while raising children” at 1 a.m., this podcast is for you.

LOVEe + Robyn
